Philadelphia Eagles fire Rory Segrest

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to clean house on their coaching staff.

Just one day after firing defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, the team has announced that they have relieved defensive line coach Rory Segrest of his duties.

Segrest, who spent the last two years as the Eagles’ defensive line coach, was the team’s special teams coach in 2008.

He had never played or coached in the NFL when he joined Reid’s staff after the 2005 season.

The last two years were generally disappointing ones for the Eagles’ defensive line. This past season, while the struggling secondary and linebacking corps were very young, the defensive line struggled with an older, more veteran group.
