Breaking: Rams hire Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator

The St. Louis Rams have hired former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels as their new offensive coordinator. After two days of negotiations failed to a produce a deal, talks between the Rams and McDaniels resumed and the deal was completed early Tuesday evening.

McDaniels – the 1997 USA Today High School Coach of the Year – will replace the recently departed Pat Shurmur, who was hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns last week.

McDaniels will become the offensive mastermind and mentor for young quarterback Sam Bradford. The coach has helped develop quarterbacks Tom Brady, Matt Cassell, and Kyle Orton throughout his career.

McDaniels was fined by the NFL for videotaped a San Francisco 49ers’ walkthrough practice, during the teams’ Week 8 matchup. He was fired by Denver after a 3–9 start in 2010.
