The Denver Broncos have hired 38-year old Dennis Allen as their new defensive coordinator.
Allen had suddenly become a hot commodity as he was interviewed by the Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend. He has worked under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in New Orleans over the past several seasons. Allen has no prior experience as a coordinator, but the Saints’ pass defense has been solid, if not spectacular, during his three years of direction as defensive backs coach.
Allen will take over the defense for newly hired head coach John Fox. The Eagles are now the only team remaining without a defensive coordinator.
