Angels acquire Vernon Wells

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Toronto Blue Jays have completed a 3-player trade that will send outfielder Vernon Wells and cash considerations to Anaheim for catcher Mike Napoli and outfielder Juan Rivera.

The deal was first reported Friday evening by Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal.

Wells, who enjoyed a bounce back season in 2010, is owed $86 million over the next four seasons. He likely will take over in center field for the Angels, with Torii Hunter remaining in right.

The 2010 AL All Star had his best offensive numbers since 2006, batting .273/.331/.515 with 31 home runs and 88 RBIs.

  1. Seriously who ok’d a trade of Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera for Vernon Wells? Most lopsided trade I’ve ever seen
