Yankees sign LHP Pedro Feliciano

The New York Yankees have signed left-handed reliever Pedro Feliciano to a 2-year deal worth $8 million.  The deal includes a club option for the 2013 season.

Feliciano rejected arbitration from the New York Mets earlier this offseason seeking a multi-year deal.  After the Yankees were spurned by high priced free-agent starter Cliff Lee, they turned their attention to upgrading their bullpen.

The 8-year veteran spent his entire career with the New York Mets and compiled a 22-19 record with a 3.31 ERA.  Left-handed hitters have hit just .214 off of Feliciano in his career.

However, Feliciano has been worked a lot over the past three seasons by former Mets manager Jerry Manuel working in 86, 88, and 92 games respectively.  It will be interesting to see if Feliciano can continue to maintain that workload as he moves across the city to the Bronx.
