The American League Champion Texas Rangers have signed free agent starter Brandon Webb to a 1-year deal. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Webb has not pitched in the Major Leagues since Opening Day of the 2009 season due to a shoulder injury that required reconstructive surgery.
After losing out on re-signing lefty Cliff Lee, the Rangers turned their attention to another former Cy Young award winner. Webb represents a major low-risk, high reward move for Texas.
The former Arizona Diamonbacks righty was 56-25 with a 3.13 ERA from 2006-2008.
