It’s that time of the year again. College basketball is back. The [Five] starts out the year with the Top 25. The season is so young (most teams have only played one game), the list shouldn’t be very mind-blowing.

Duke: The defending national champs, the Duke Blue Devils, started the season Sunday with a 37-point win over Princeton. The victory was even more impressive on the stat-line. The Blue Devils forced 27 turnovers and shot 55-percent from the field. Nolan Smith scored 22 points and Kyle Singler added 16 more. Kyrie Irving, the first freshman to start a season as Duke’s point guard since Jason Williams in 1999, had 17 points.
Mich. St.: The Spartans opened the season with a 96-66 victory over Eastern Michigan on Friday night. So, it seems like the Kalin Lucas’ Achilles surgery was performed successfully. Lucas scored 18 total points – 15 in the first half. Teammates Durrell Summers had 17 points, freshman Keith Appling scored 14, Draymond Green had 12 points. Green also added eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. Freshmen Adreian Payne put in 10 as well. Those five accounted for 71 of the 96 points.
