The Miami Dolphins have signed CB Al Harris to a contract for the remainder of the 2010 season. The 35-year old Harris was released by the Green Bay Packers on Monday and cleared waivers.
Harris began this season on the team’s physically unable to perform list as he continued his recovery from a severe left knee injury suffered last November. He returned to Packers practice on October 19th, but was released before returning to game action.
Harris, originally from Florida, will join the Dolphins later Wednesday afternoon at practice. He worked out for the team at 7am Wednesday morning and was signed shortly thereafter.
Harris’s agent Jack Bechta confirmed the signing.
“Al is excited to be playing in his hometown,” said Bechta. “He has intimated to me that he wants to play as long as he can. Hopefully, this the the beginning of a new road. He’s eager to play right away and also eager to play a few more years.”
The Dolphins are back in action this Sunday as they take on the Tennessee Titans. It could be a matchup of new talent as Harris’s first assignment of the 2010 season could be against the Titans newly acquired WR Randy Moss.
