The AP is reporting The Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association is reprimanding Jamaican track coach Stephen Francis over a positive drug test that resulted in a six-month ban for sprinter Shelly Ann Fraser. The JAAA did not specify Francis’ role and said Francis apologized for a “dereliction.”
Francis was warned about stronger sanctions for any future violations.
According to the AP, World and Olympic 100-meter champion Fraser was suspended for six months in October after a positive test for the drug oxycodone at the Diamond League meet May 23 in Shanghai. She said she took a painkiller because of a toothache.
Francis also coaches Asafa Powell.
