2010 Empire Games Canceled

The word is out and it says the 2011 Empire State Games are canceled. New York has pulled the plug because of the $9 billion budget gap.
The Olympic-style games began in Syracuse in 1978. They are run by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting, Winter Games administrator Lisa Del Signore wrote a letter to the athletes informing them the winter, summer, senior and games for the physically challenged have been canceled.
Frank Corrier, Syracuse University professor, said the games were scheduled to be in Lake Placid this February.
The summer games were canceled in 2009 because of budget cuts.
