Round the ‘Block: 9/21/10

So that went well. ::pulls at collar:: Okay, so it wasn’t perfect. We suffered a small hiccup in technology during the second segment of the show, after that, life was sweet.

The tough thing: Ade Coker fell off the face of the planet.

Not-As-Bad thing: He was replaced by music and not dead air.

Apparently, I don’t have as high a level of expertise on the board in Studio A as I thought. I’ll recover and be back next week with a better show.

My Five Cents

Matthew Harris stopped by the show LATE last night. Talked NFL and Fantasy Football. The bummer is the biggest news of the week broke this afternoon when Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid named quarterback Michael Vick the starter for the Eagles in Week 3.

Holy Crap. I’m sure Michael Lederer is having a coronary.

On a completely unrelated note. Look for a few changes around the site. We have jumped on with Yardbarker (a subsidiary of Fox Sports) and will be syndicated through their network. What does that mean for you, the loyal reader?

Not much.

We will still be posting (nearly) everyday. We will still be covering the top sports stories. And, most importantly, you, the reader, will still get keen insight from myself, Jurassic Paque, Matthew Harris, the aforementioned Lederer, Jon Doss as well as a handful of other talented writers.

The main difference: So will a million other people.

Tuesday Night Stew

So it didn’t take as long as I expected, but Matt Moore is no more in Carolina. Jimmy Clausen is now the starting quarterback. And he has an uphill battle to fight. Or maybe not.

Originally the Panthers ditched Jake Delhomme after a dismal season because they thought Moore was the heir apparent. Last season he finished the year 4-1 and threw one a single interception during that span. And he tallied eight touchdowns, to boot.

Then the offseason hit and someone reminded him that he was, in fact, Matt Moore. So far this season he is responsible for a handful of interceptions and another handful of fumbles. Bad decisions. Bad timing. Bad everything. The only thing he isn’t bad at is being bad. he’s great at that!

Okay, so that’s a bit over the top. But truly he has thrown four interceptions and dropped three fumbles. In the first two games. Neither of which he has finished (one by concussion and one via ‘the hook’).

I feel bad Moore for two reasons. First, everyone put him up on a pedestal he (sadly) wasn’t comfortable standing on and, two, he is saying all the right stuff.

“I’m not happy with it. I understand, I accept it,” Moore told the AP. “But it’s definitely not what you want to hear as a player. I’ll be behind Jimmy as the weeks go on.”

No crazy news this week… Weird.
