A real steal…
The Cadillac Escalade is a real steal…if you’re a thief. The Escalade tops the list for the most stolen cars according to a report by the Highway Loss Date Institute (HLDI).
The top 5 vehicles on the “most stolen” list are:
- Cadillac Escalade
- Ford F-250 (crew cab)
- Infiniti G37 (2 dr)
- Dodge Charger
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
However, in Syracuse, the Cadillac Escalade is not the most stolen car. Sergeant Gary Bulinski of the Syracuse police department said the Cadillac Escalade doesn’t even make the top 3 most stolen cars. “In 2010, the most popular vehicle reported stolen in this time frame is the Ford Explorer,” said Bulinski.
Syracuse resident and Escalade owner Paris Hart said the report doesn’t worry him. “I know the city well, I know a lot of people in the city, so I’m fine wherever I go,” said Hart.
When asked if he was more careful when traveling out of town Hart said, “I’m more cautious, I park in well lit areas and when I stay in a hotel I park somewhere where I can see my car when I look out of my window.”
In the past two years there have been 403 stolen cars reported in Syracuse according to Sergeant Bulinski.
