The [FIVE] has posted a new item, ‘Practice: Day 4 – with photos’ Oregon State Sports Information quoted Slade Norris referencing Sammie Stroughter as, “fast!” Stroughter had just finished outrunning a host of
defenders to the edge before turning upfield for 15-yard gain. Yea, he’s pretty quick but even Norris is no slowpoke.
The Beavers continue during their NCAA mandated “warm-up practices.” They are still trying to get a grasp on plays and how they will be run. Don’t worry, the fly sweep is still around – the staple of 2007 won’t go anywhere. The WRs – Stroughter, Rodgers, Shane Morales and Chris Johnson – have all been seen taking handoffs at one time or another.
James Rodgers has looked promising this summer. It looks like he has put on some bulk and WR Aaron Nichols will surprise some people this season – more to come on that.
On the line, OSU SI reports that Redshirt freshman Wilder McAndrews continues to line up at right tackle with the first team. Mike Riley recently confirmed for the media that McAndrews is currently leading the battle for the position. Also in the mix are redshirt freshman Mike Remmers, junior Brent McNeil and senior Tavita Thompson will also be in the mix when his NCAA-mandated suspension ends Nov. 1.
The DBs were hard at work today. Brandon Hughes, Keenan Lewis and crew were busy tormenting the first, and second team offense. There were a lot of batted balls and bump and run coverages on the outside. I think Raju Woodward of the GT is planning a story on the two. I also learned that B.Hughes is not a fan of cameras.
