I received an e-mail Monday morning that was basically a cease and desist (sorry for the typo up all day – thanks to those who pointed it out without stooping to homophobic slurs) letter from Oregon State. I was told I was no longer permitted on the field.
There was miscommunication between myself and the Sports Info Department over where the photos were being used and how thy were being used. The coaches were beginning to ask questions as well. Big surprise Beaver Nation – I was in the wrong! I know, it’s happened before and, by golly, it will probably happen again.
Originally, I was shooting photos for The Barometer and taking the better shots for my online resume and to make some background pics for the computer. A fan found them and asked if I would post more pictures with a short blurb about practice.
I thought, no big deal. Turns out, I was wrong.
My love for analyzing football and the possibilities got me yanked. The staff didn’t like my recent post about the fantastic four the Beavers have. Yes, I’m talking about the WRs. After a long conversation with a few friends, I conjured up a possible formation they could run because of the depth they have at that position.
The coaching staff at Sports Information didn’t much care for that. The Sports Information Department didn’t have any hard feelings – but it’s just the business.
Never the less, for those of you who have been coming to the site for pictures and a breakdown of camp – the quality and frequency of pictures may suffer as I am now only permitted to sit when the fans sit.
Thanks to the people who have offered their support.
(This post will be updated as new information is available)
Nick,
Thanks for your work. Great pictures. Great opinions.
Unfortunately I do agree with the program trying to control the type of information available to their opponents.
That said, don’t stop what your doing just tweak it.
Love the site.
