Bryan Miller has been promoted to Sports Performance Coordinator at Oregon State University, Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis announced Monday. De Carolis also announced that Clete McLeod has been appointed assistant sports performance coordinator.
Miller replaces Jeff Macy, who recently resigned to accept the position of strength and conditioning coach for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association. He oversees all operations at the newly opened (May 2008) 20,000-square foot Sports Performance Center, located between legendary Gill Coliseum and Reser Stadium.
The North Park University (Illinois) graduate has been on the OSU staff since April of 2006 as an assistant sports performance staff member, primarily working with the football program.
“I’m extremely excited for this opportunity,” Miller said. “I want to continue creating a positive training environment and providing every opportunity for all of our student-athletes to develop and become successful. I want to thank Jeff Macy, Bob De Carolis, Marianne Vydra and Mike Riley for their support in pursing this opportunity.”
Prior to coming to the West Coast, Miller was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Wisconsin. He also spent four years in the same capacity at Northern Illinois University and has had stints at North Park, the American Heartland Ice Arena and Sport Complex, and as an intern at Northwestern University and with the Chicago Bulls.
Miller played football at North Park where he was a two-year letterman and team captain. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Specialist in Sports Conditioning and a Level I Club Coach (U.S. Weightlifting).
McLead joins Jen Miller, Tim Rabas and Brendon Ziegler as full-time assistant sports performance coordinators. McLead spent last year as head strength/speed coach and sports nutrition counselor at Southeast Missouri State University. He also has professional experience in a similar capacity at Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University the United Sports Academy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and at Velocity Sports Performance in Naperville, Ill.
