The Beavers final event tonight is the Vault. The competitors are, Megan Devencenzi, Brooke Barclay, Yuki Lamb, Jami Lanz, Tasha Smith and Mandi Rodriguez. It’s the final event of thenight and the last chance the Beavers have at proving to the judges that they belong at nationals.
Devencenzi was back in the line-up this week after losing her spot at Pac-10’s. She vaulted a 9.75 in her return and started things off well for the Beavers. Yuki Lamb, third in line-up finished off her Oregon State career with a vault of 9.925 and waved to the corwd back up the runway.
A scary moment when Smith’s vault came to an awkward end. Sami Redmond said, off-air, that perhaps she jammed her ankles on her landing. Smith came up a little slow and her "jog" back to the corral was very straight-legged.
The team finished with a 49.3 on the vault and an un-official team score of 197.1. Based on the other teams scores through this point, Michigan is the only team with a chance of challenging the Beavers for the win. The Wolverines need a 49.650 to pass the Beavers and take first place in the NCAA West Regional.
