It is time for the Major League season, and it all (really) started last night as President Bush was booed during his first pitch at the Nationals new ballpark. Here is my look at the MLB divisions, wild cards and a few award winners. Last year I did OK on team predictions and stunk it up on awards. I was correct on AL/NL Cy Young’s and NL Rookie of the Year, however.
American League
West – Seattle Mariners
Central – Cleveland Indians
East – Boston Red Sox
Wild Card – Detroit Tigers
National League
West – Arizona Diamondbacks
Central – Milwaukee Brewers
East – Philadelphia Phillies
Wild Card – New York Mets
Playoffs
AL- Boston over Detroit, Cleveland over Seattle
Cleveland over Boston
NL- Philadelphia over Milwaukee, Arizona over New York
Arizona over Philadelphia
World Series- Cleveland over Arizona
Award Winners-
AL ROY – Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays
AL MVP – Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers
AL Cy Young – Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers
NL ROY – Jay Bruce, Cincinnati Reds
NL MVP – David Wright, New York Mets
NL Cy Young – Jake Peavey, San Diego Padres (for the sake of not repeating last year’s pick/winner, Dan Haren, Arizona Diamondbacks)
How can you not pick the Rays as either the AL East champ or at the very least the AL wild card!
Haha, we will see how fast they get Longoria and Price up to Tropicana. I almost want to guarantee that they will at least take third this year in the division.
Its absurb that Longoria isnt on the roster right now, but from the reports I’ve read is that Price is still too raw and they dont want to rush him.
Ive read he should make his debut in late july early august.
they’ll do better than third, they’ll win the pennant.
