Turns out those dirty Jacquizz Rodgers to Baylor rumors weren’t true after all. Consider him signed, sealed, and waiting for delivery.
Oregonian beat writer Paul Buker posts the director’s cut of a piece on letter of intent day and Canfield’s shoulder that ran in the O today. Good stuff on Rogers:
“…his prep coach, Lydell Wilson, said there is no question Rodgers can play with the big boys.
Wilson said that in two or three years, Jacquizz Rodgers could be a Heisman Trophy candidate.”
Biased maybe, but you can’t deny getting amped on the kid.
LOI day pretty much came and went as expected, with little in the way of surprises for the beavers. Offensive coordinators across the Pac 10 can expect many sleepless nights trying to slow a beavers rushing attack that now includes Simi Kuli. Despite having the the ninth best recruiting class in the conference, according to most polls, the Beavers can probably expect to have a stronger team in 2008 than the 2007 squad that went 10-4.
With the Kuli & Rogers signings, little hooplah has been made of prototypical pocket passer Ryan Katz, who received offers from Washington, Oregon, San Jose State, Air Force and Utah. Although he is a potential backup next season (most likely in the event Canfield continues to have shoulder issues), Katz may end up redshirting instead.
