Wow. The first half for the Beaver offense was abysmal. They had opportunities, they squandered them, they had blown assignments and Maryland exploited them, they made big plays…
Scratch that.
The Beavers had zero big plays in the first half and that is what is killed them. Its not so much that the Beavers didn’t “complete” big plays, they never tried them. Mike Riley didn’t call for deep throws, only one screen play, and nothing but dives up the middle and short pass plays. The only big play came on defense, a Daniel Drayton interception, and it was quickly nullified by the offenses ineptitude, when it fumbled
If the Beavers want to make this game at all managable they will need to throw the ball deep in the second half or at least get Yvenson Bernard some decent holes to the outside and get him into the open field.
